This is the “About Me” section … so I should probably tell you a little bit about myself.
Right now, I live in Central Texas! I have three adorable cats named Vincent, Ira, and Norah. I’m obsessed with them. Every day is like going to the zoo and watching the lion and tiger exhibit. They sleep for the majority of the day, but It is still so much fun! Random facts about me: Bees are my favorite insect, I collect children’s illustration books, my favorite color is green, and I really love cupcakes, oh, and glitter! Everything is more fun with glitter.
I’ve always enjoyed making things with my hands and being creative since I was a kid. Art class was always my absolute favorite subject in school because it let me use my imagination and have fun exploring different media, like drawing, painting, and sculpting. Then, when I was around 10 or 11, my mom taught me how to sew. It was a small fuzzy teddy bear; at least, it was supposed to be. It looked like a messy ball of fur, but I was learning, and it was a start. After a little more practice, I was hooked and started my own business making cute stuffed animals. I would sell them at local fairs and craft shows (every once in a while, you can still find one on the internet for sale.) My parents were pretty sneaky because they encouraged my creativity and taught me how to be a little entrepreneur at the same time.
After I finished high school, I studied psychology with an emphasis on child and teen development. That is a really fancy way of saying I learned about how kids think, feel, and process the world around them. I’ve always been fascinated with how people interact with each other and the world around them. If you put me on a park bench or turn on the latest reality TV show, I can be entertained for hours. I still use some knowledge about children’s development when creating new craft ideas.
A few years later, I switched gears and learned about home design, a program all about choosing colors, furniture, decorations, and everything else that makes a room look awesome and feel cozy. It’s like using your imagination to design and decorate the inside of a house or a room, making it a cool and fun space to be in.
Soon after, I had the opportunity to work with a team at a store called Crate&Barrel for almost 15 years! We created awesome displays for people to see and buy. I learned so much while I worked there.
Fast-forward to today, I have the coolest job, ever. I am a blogger, crafter, and illustrator, making fun content just for you. I get to make crafts and DIY projects, draw awesome pictures, and be an artist all day long! Pretty neat, huh?
Life is full of surprises, twists, and turns, but I’m back on the right road and returning to my creative roots. My focus now is on my art and spreading kindness wherever I go. I hope this website and the easy step-by-step tutorials tucked away for you to discover will inspire you to be creative and think outside the box.
